Enhanced Post-Operative Instructions After DCR Surgery (Dacryocystorhinostomy)

- Bruising around nose/eye
- Blood-tinged tears
- Mild nasal bleeding
- Sensation of blockage
Eye & Nose Care
- Cold compresses every 2–3 hours for first 24–48 hours
- Avoid rubbing the eye
- Do not pull the silicone stent
- Use saline nasal sprays as recommended
- Keep the eye corners clean
Restrictions
- Avoid bending forward
- Do not lift weights for 1 week
- Avoid nose blowing; sneeze with mouth open
- No swimming, saunas, or steam exposure
- Avoid flying until medically approved
Diet & Lifestyle
- Resume normal meals

- Avoid smoking, dusty environments, and irritants
Medications
- Pain relievers as needed
- Antibiotics to prevent infection

- Weeks 2–3: Bruising fades, tearing improves
- Weeks 4–6: Stent remains in place
